Although it was super hot, we had a terrific start to the new school year. It was wonderful to read about the special items students brought in this morning in their All About Me bags. Students worked in groups to make words from the letters in their names and calculated the total value of their words similar to Scrabble. During writing time, students wrote about their summer vacation to share with others. Students each get a subscription to Scholastic News and can access the magazine online, as well. They read an article about the volcanic eruptions in Hawai’i. They also got to experience Buker’s new playground. Enjoy the long weekend!
